Karen’s roots in art began with her grandparents, one a glass artist, the other an oil painter. Her life, however, took a different turn. With two children to raise, she earned her BSN and later her MPH and began working in Nephrology Nursing in Westchester County, New York. After a gratifying career spanning 37 years, Karen and her husband Richard, retired to Monterey, MA, a small town just east of Great Barrington in southern Berkshire County. Karen was finally able to devote her time to stained glass and pastel painting.

Her love of stained glass began as a hobby in 1995, and with the exception of one introductory course, she is self-taught. In 2011, Karen had a studio built and began accepting stained glass commissions. All of these works were original designs and site specific. In between the stained glass projects, she was at her easel creating pastel landscapes and portraits.

Karen’s works of stained glass and pastels are now in homes and businesses from Maine to Florida. Her work has been included in group shows in the Knox Gallery, Monterey, MA; Richmond-West Stockbridge Artists’ Guild Fine Art Shows, Richmond, MA; First Friday Art Walk, Pittsfield, MA; Ridgefield Guild of Artists Juried Shows, Ridgefield, CT and Westchester Medical Center, Valhalla, NY.
